As part of the 22nd week of press and media in the school, the Charles de Gaulle Memorial is organising a series of lectures and discussions on the topic of History and the Media. Specialist historians and press professionals give a scientific perspective and their professional expertise on the development of the world of media. The gathering of information, the independence of journalists, the impact of cartoons and the challenges of the digital revolution are some of the central themes of this forum.

Three round-table discussions are scheduled during this week. More than just lessons in history, the History and Media Forum is intended to be a point discussion for people to gain a better understanding of the world we live in.

Thursday 24 March 2011 – Do press cartoons constitute a form of news ? with Guillaume Doizy and Aurel. More

Friday 25 March 2011 – Traditional media in social media, making news today. What challenges ? What perspectives ? with Pierre-Louis Basse, Patrice Schumacher, Pierre-Marie Giraud and Toma Bletner. More
