Historial Charles de Gaulle - Musée de l'Armée (Army Museum) - Paris
Set within the Hôtel National des Invalides, the Historial Charles de Gaulle opened its doors to the public in February 2008. Spread over 2 500 m2, it presents the life of a man whose fate was inextricably linked with that of France and the world for more than thirty years.
Neither a memorial nor a museum in the traditional sense of the word, the Historial Charles de Gaulle is a place of avant-garde learning with a strong museum-like feel, with priority given to images, in all forms, through interactive media.
A visit to the Historial goes hand in hand with a visit to the Memorial : these two places offer differing aspects of Charles de Gaulle. The Historial deals more with politics and the Memorial the private man and his attachment to the Haute-Marne region.

Charles de Gaulle’s Birth House - Lille
Visit the house where Charles de Gaulle was born – this beautiful private hotel in Lille where his maternal grandparents were born.
Classified as a historical monument in 1990, the Birth House is now the property of the Fondation Charles de Gaulle.
Thanks to family heirlooms and personal effects collected in this residence, visitors are steeped from the outset in the atmosphere which may have prevailed at the time of Charles de Gaulle’s birth.
The evocation of his grand-parents’ daily life shows us what life was like in northern France at the end of the 19th century, and more particularly the traditions and habits of a typical bourgeois family of the Belle Époque.
