A high point for memories of De Gaulle, the Memorial Charles de Gaulle commemorates the historic Appeal of 18 June 1940 by General de Gaulle, by providing to the public an exhibition entitled « Ici Londres… Dans les coulisses de la BBC » (This is London – Backstage at the BBC).

The exhibition shows a faithful reconstruction of the studio on the 4th floor of Bush House, headquarters of the BBC in 1940, within which de Gaulle launched his Appeal to the Resistance. All of the objects shown, a large part of which are original, come from the collections of the Musée de Radio France (Radio France Museum) in Paris, which is the project partner.

Visitors are invited to explore backstage at the BBC through two separate areas : the technical room and the recording studio. « Ici Londres… Dans les coulisses de la BBC » offers the public a remarkable immersion in the place where the voices of Liberty could be heard throughout the war.

This exhibition is the result of collaboration between the Memorial Charles de Gaulle and the Musée de Radio France, the Radio France group and the Office National des Anciens Combattants (National Office of Veterans) for Haute-Marne.
