The Memorial
Franco-German reconciliationThe first temporary exhibition, “De Gaulle-Adenauer: Franco-German reconciliation”, tells the story of Franco-German relations from 1958 to the present day from the point of view of the ties between the two Heads of State. Particular attention is paid to cultural, economic and institutional cooperation and to matters of defence and education.
Focusing on the similarities of character and values between the two men, the exhibition considers the 14th of September 1958 meeting consecrated to Franco-German reconciliation. The exhibition benefits from a wealth of different media (films, eye-witness accounts, documents) and results from a successful partnership between France and Germany: the exhibition Committee consists of Frédérique Dufour of the Fondation Charles de Gaulle and Corinna Franz of the Stiftung Bundeskanzler-Adenauer-Haus.
